Since we hadn't seen my parents since July, we decided to meet them halfway in North Platte for lunch on Saturday. We finally got out of town (the kids had lost part of the DVD player...) and the kids did pretty good. Braxton was ready to be there about 2 hours into it. (the trip is about 3 hours, FYI). We met my parents for lunch, and the kids got their present's from Hawaii. they were so excited, but mostly loved the flip flop key chains.
After lunch we decided to find a park and go play. The kids loved the slides and the teeter tatter (is that how you spell that?) After a while of playing, we decided to go to the Golden Spike Visitors Center. It overlooks the Union Pacific Railyards in NP. They are the biggest in the world. Braxton especially thought it was awesome, and we learned a lot about trains from Grandpa Mike! We went to the outdoor observation deck which was really neat, then we went to the 8th floor which was an indoor observation deck with windows.
We found out that there is a "family day" next weekend at the railroad in Alliance, so we made the quick decision to head back there. Wish us luck with the trip!
Just a side note, friday night we went to the Pius football game, they were honoring the championship team from 10 years ago, which Chad was a part of! It was really neat, they had them down on the field at halftime. We met up with a guy that chad was friends with in high school and our kids hit it off! Braxton and Lilly both loved the football game, and they did win, 48-7!
