Shrine Bowl

Well it is Shine Bowl day in Lincoln. this morning we went to the parade, Braxton wanted to leave after the firetrucks blew their horns, but he came around. both kids even gave the clowns 'five' . The parade was almost 1.5 hours long! There were lots of cool old cars, and lots of little go-kart cars. braxton thought it was pretty good. Tonight we decided to take the kids to the shrine bowl game. My high school sociology teacher was the head coach of the North, jeff Tomlin. There were quite a few people there, but not a ton! They had the Masonic youth on the field. the poor job's were in full formal gowns and MNJD had to wear her cape, they looked HOT! The kids were climbing all over the bleachers and scaring us. They didn't fall, but came real close a few times. At halftime we decided to watch the band and head out. The band was really good! Now we are home. The kids are heading to Alliance with Grandma and Grandpa Laverty Monday. so chad and I will be all alone until wednesday when we head there. It will be lonely, but i am sure we will be OK! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Reunion Weekend!

Well this weekend was a ton of fun! Here's the breakdown:
~Thursday~
We got on the road around 1:30 or so, so not too bad at all! The kids watched movies but neither one of them slept the whole way, can you believe it? We ran into some interesting rain around Broken Bow, but nothing too exciting. We got to Alliance around 7 or so and decided to walk down to Heritage Days for some dinner. YUMMIEST gyros. So good! The kids decided to ride some rides. They both rode the bumblebees and the merry-go-round. Stacey got into town, so I decided to go out for a drink with her. Chad met us downtown and we ended up at Sandhillers with Brad. My dad came down after work and had a drink. It was quite a fun time!
~Friday~
Friday morning we were going to walk to Aunt Rita's bakery for yummy donuts, but Lilly kept saying "BRR" so we decided to drive. We got some donuts and came home to eat them. Then Mom and I went to Sharon's get get beautiful! We went home and got the rest of the family and went to the AYO GRILL for lunch. It was SO YUMMY. I had this chicken/shrimp on rice with cheese sauce, so good! Then we decided to drive around a little bit because Lilly was so close to falling asleep. She fell asleep and Braxton and I walked around Carhenge for a little bit. it always makes me nervous because of snakes.

I couldn't believe how many out of state cars were there. South Carolina was the farthest that we saw. When we got home we decided to take a nap, it was wonderful! Stacey called and we decided to meet downtown for dinner. Which brings us to Friday night. =)
~Friday Night~
Friday night we went downtown and had some dinner, Indian Tacos this time! The kids decided to ride some rides, the bumblebees were definitely the most popular ride! Braxton and Chad went down the big slide and loved it! Then Chad took the kids home and Stacey and I went to the beer garden to meet Emily! We had some drinks and built Beerhenge! We decided to take a loop and see who we could see from our class and ran into quite a few. Then we decided to walk down to Sandhillers for Karaoke!!! On the way there we ran into Tara and a very pregnant Brandy, but the biggest surprise was Nathan! I couldn't believe he came back for the reunion, it was great to see him. We went inside and did some Karaoke. Well, I didn't but Emily, Tammy, and Erin did. My dad sang a few songs, and Mike Tschacher sang with his dad! It was fun! The bar was really crowded though, so that was interesting. We finally got home a little after 1:00am (2am in Lincoln).
~Saturday~
Saturday was the parade. Thanks to Sharon for letting us park in her parking lot! Braxton wasn't a big fan of the motorcycles, but he came around. The parade was about an hour long or so, the kids got some candy and popsicles that they enjoyed! We went home and made some sandwiches and JoLee came over with her little boy. It was nice to visit for a while! Later that afternoon we went to the Legion for Juanita Mendoza's 70th birthday. Max was making tacos and Chad thinks they are the best tacos he has ever had. Nothing like you would find in Lincoln, but honest Mexican tacos with salso and cilantro. It was YUMMY!!! Then we ran to K-Mart to get Chad some khaki socks because my mom made fun of his white ones! We went out to the Country Club and had drinks and dinner. It was nice, short but nice. They did a presentation of pictures and some awards. Then we tried to take a class picture, I am curious to see how that turned out. After the dinner, Chad decided to go home with the kids while Stacey and I went out. First we wandered through Heritage Days and ran into Rob Cayer! I talked him into singing "Hell" at Sandhillers, he's so awesome at that song! Then we ping-ponged through Players to find Tara and Brandy. We sat talking with them for a while until Brian Shelmadine joined us for the rest of the night. Stacey and Brian were instructed to keep the conversation at an 8th grade level because not all of us are getting PHDs. We kept waiting for Brandy to have her baby, but it didn't happen that night. We saw lots of people from our class and caught up with a lot of people, it was fun! Hopefully I can get copies of pictures that people took. I only took a few. Around 12:30 we called it a night and Stacey took me home.
~Sunday~
We drove home, I slept most of the way, Lilly slept a little, and Braxton didn't sleep at all. All in all, it was a great weekend!

Mini Vacation/Class Reunion

can you believe it is already halfway through July? Today we are leaving for Alliance for my class reunion. Last night the kids got movies and snacks for the trip. They are both so excited about seeing Grandma Mimi and Grandpa Mike! And Braxton wants to ride the merry go round at Heritage days! We should get there around 7 tonight and one of my best friends from high school flies in tonight from San Francisco! Tomorrow we will probably walk to the bakery for yummy donuts, they are SO YUMMY! Aunt Rita makes the best! Then we will probably wander around the booths and the rides for a while. Friday nigth we are supposed to meet at the beer garden for the reunion. I think we'll go for a while, then we are hooking up with the coolest Emily Jane Cayer!!! We might do some karaoke at Sandhillers, stand by for pictures. Saturday is the parade, i am sure the kids will have fun! Then saturday night is the reuinion at the country club. it will be fun to see who is there and how everyone has changed. My vote is still for Jodi changing the most! I am so excited for this weekend! I am excited to spend more than 30 minutes with Stacey. I am excited to sing karaoke with emily! I am excited for funnel cakes and indian tacos. I'll post pictures when we get back!

Kidwell BBQ

So Saturday was the Kidwell BBQ. We got to Virginia's around 9:30 and it was cloudy. Chad and i moved the tent and started setting things up. Around 10:30 I was vacuuming the pool and it started to downpour! Of course I was a little disappointed that it was raining on BBQ day. We waited it out and the rain stopped about 10 minutes later. It stayed cloudy all afternoon, but it was still nice enough for a swim! The kids couldn't wait to get in! We grilled some hot dogs and hamburgers, Thanks CHAD!! Everybody brought yummy side dishes to share. When they were leaving, one of the boys asked their dad "How often do you have these work parties and are they always at this pool!" I suppose that makes it a success, the kids want to do it again. Hopefully next year more people will be able to attend and it will be a nicer day!

Potty Training

Well, it is that time in the Dalton household again. Lilly is ready to be potty trained. I know this because she has all of her dolls going potty on the big potty! At first I thought she was dropping them in, but she was holding them so they could go. She also brings us diapers to change her just after she has finished. On Sunday we decided to put her in some big girl pants and see what happens. The pull-ups never worked for Braxton, so we are skipping that step. She went on the floor twice and once in Braxton's fort. He was not happy about that at all! I found some vinyl training pants so she wont make a mess. We will see what happens. We aren't going to push it, but not buying diapers anymore would be SO nice! I guess there really aren't any babies in the Dalton house anymore. Wish us luck! Any advice on potty training a little girl is appreciated!

Holiday Weekend!

Well the holiday weekend didn't go exactly as we had hoped. As I said before, the kids were afraid of fireworks, so we left the BBQ early on Thursday and came home. Friday during the day we got the house cleaned up and all of the laundry done, happy Independence Day. :) Friday night, Lilly went with Grandma and Grandpa Dalton to Jason's house. We were finally able to convince Braxton to go over. The kids played in the basement while we watched the fireworks. Then we headed home, parked on the hill by our house and watched from there. Lilly fell asleep and Braxton just wanted to go home. Saturday we went shopping for the BBQ (that should be an interesting blog next weekend) and Saturday night the kids went to grandma and grandpa Dalton's while chad and I went out. it was quite nice! Sunday we went for a nice long *hot* walk and went to the park, the kids had a great time! Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

Fourth of July!

well, as we expected, braxton is terrified of fireworks. I thought i could get around it by getting him his own MP3 player. I put some disney music on it just for him. We went to grandma and grandpa dalton's and some kids started shooting big rolls of firecrackers. Both kids went crazy. we left about 20 minutes after we got there. :( So i guess we will be in the basement tonight watching movies instead of at a BBQ watching fireworks. hopefully they grow out of it in a few years, this is Chad's favorite holiday. I think he is pretty bummed that he can't do fireworks this year! Everyone be safe and have fun!!!!
